Nardwuar the Human Serviette just got some serious hometown recognition from Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart. As of now, September 29 will forever be known as Nardwuar Day.
In a Twitter post today, Nardwuar shared the news, along with the official proclamation from the mayor's office. See that down below.
In a Twitter post today, Nardwuar shared the news, along with the official proclamation from the mayor's office. See that down below.
The proclamation, in the most serious of tones, states that the former MuchMusic personality earned his own day for having gained global recognition through his "32 years of tireless service to Vancouver's music community," as well as being "a long-running host at UBC campus radio station CiTR 101.9FM."
Further in the proclamation, Nardwuar is lauded for his ongoing dedication to keep on "rockin' in the free world."
Nardwuar, who is clearly thrilled at this honour, posted photos of himself with the mayor at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom during the "day-giving" ceremony.
Nard was inducted into the BC Hall of Fame at the same event, where he received a star on BC's Walk of Fame. The ceremony doubled as an opportunity for the mayor to surprise him with his proclamation.
