Nader Sadek are an unusual project, named after the conceptual artist and songwriter who guides every aspect of the music, structure and performances. Sadek, who control's the project's direction and aesthetic, as well as all of the songwriting, has assembled a collection of black and death metal juggernauts to execute his vision, namely drummer Flo Mournier (Cryptopsy), guitarist Rune Eriksen (Aura Noir), bassist Marcin "Novy" Nowak (ex-Vader, ex-Behemoth) and vocalist Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel). Considering this, Living Flesh is an unusual live record, capturing a performance of Nader Sadek's one studio record, In The Flesh, in its entirety. In addition to the line-up, Sean Frey served as an additional live guitarist and Carmen Simoes (Ava Inferi) provided backing vocals for this performance. The album is essentially attempting to capture, in the form of a record, as much as possible from a live performance — an inherently transient experience. Sadek believes the performance aspect, including props and set design, has an impact on the way the record is heard, especially the foul, oozing influences of oil and tar that characterize his vision of a post-apocalyptic society. Living Flesh captures a more vibrant or essential version of that vision — one more visceral and rife with disgust. Listening to "Nigredo in Necromance" is an entirely different experience when you picture a lunatic Sadek throwing tar-drenched viscera into the audience.
