Since emerging in the alternative rock boom of the '90s, Nada Surf have remained relatively consistent in their output. Their latest album, The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy, arrived at the beginning of the year, and they've just released a new video for the incessantly catchy single "Waiting for Something."
In this latest clip, a boy, young man and older man are shown with a blonde woman who also appears in both her youth and old age. This all suggests that the same people are being shown at different stages in their lives, interacting outside of linear time and space. Themes of aging, passage of time and missed opportunities are explored as the band rock out in a hot climate before ending the song on a beach while the male character rides out into the sea on a sailboat.
