N’Dambi takes a similar approach on her impressive offering, Little Lost Girl Blues. A backup singer for Erykah Badu, N’Dambi’s enlists one of Badu’s producers, Madukwu Chinwah, to helm the project. The stutter soul of “Deep” and the florid “Lonely Woman” connect immediately and are among the many choice moments. While laced with the loping bass lines and so-called “neo-soul” overtones one might expect, it’s the overall durability and consistency that encourages repeat spins.
