Freshly formed power-punk trio Mystery Weekend are set to deliver their independent debut Surprise! later this week, but before the album arrives, Exclaim! is giving you the chance to take in the entire thing right here.
Mystery Weekend was formed out of a desire to have fun and write some "fast songs." Featuring Protest the Hero's Rody Walker on vocals and Mike Ieradi on drums, along with Dan Hay (Fully Down) on guitar, the trio soon found themselves with an album's worth of material. Surprise! was then recorded by Dean Hadji at Ottawa's All Buttons In studio
"The three of us were raised on skate punk, but somewhere down the line we lost our way," Walker explained in a statement. "We found ourselves emerged in completely different worlds of music. Hence, Mystery Weekend. The record that came out was very surprising to us and that's why we called it Surprise!. We're really proud of the album and can't wait to rip through these songs in a live setting!"
Surprise! will officially arrive on February 17. Take in the entire record beforehand in the player below.
