As law enforcement, Mounties (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) are inexplicably tied to the Canadian identity. As a musical supergroup containing Hawksley Workman, Steve Bays (of Hot Hot Heat) and Ryan Dahle (of Limblifter), Mounties are much the same. The components of this collective have made their mark on Canadian music, both at home and abroad. Despite their other musical commitments, the band stopped by the Exclaim! office to perform their single "Headphones" for Exclaim! TV.
The performance is both calming and energetic, as the band creates a down-tempo take on the Thrash Rock Legacy track. As a beat plays, watch as the band fills Exclaim!'s front foyer, swaying and joining their voices in unison for the eerily catchy chorus, which — contrary to the title's suggestion — can be enjoyed with or without headphones.
The group were also recently announced as part of the lineup for Toronto's Riot Fest, so check out this live rendition of "Headphones" in the player below to see what you're in store for at the festival this September.
