Montreal's Osheaga festival was still scheduled to take place this summer with headliners Foo Fighters, Cardi B and Post Malone, but the fest has now been officially cancelled.
Via a press release, the festival made an announcement this morning that the 2021 event would not take place, saying instead that Osheaga, as well as sister festivals îLESONIQ and LASSO Montreal, are being pushed back until 2022.
"We've been working since last summer to try to deliver the full festival experience to fans" said Osheaga founder Nick Farkas in a statement. "We are keenly aware of how important live music is to our fans and our city, and how much everyone misses it! We want to be back there in the action too, but the truth is that it takes several months to line up the various elements to create a festival, and with current uncertainty, we don't have that luxury."
Earlier this week, Farkas said, "We're not taking another summer off." Unfortunately, it sounds like his statements were premature.

Osheaga has now been dated for July 29 to July 31, 2022, while îLESONIQ will take place on August 5 and 6, 2022, and LASSO Montreal on August 12 to 13, 2022.
Tickets from both the 2020 and 2021 editions will be valid for the 2022 festvals. "Please complete the form available on the web portal before May 6, 2021 to let us know if you wish to transfer your pass to the 2022 edition or obtain a refund," a statement reads.

Last week, the future of the festival was brought into question after plans were revealed to reduce space for the festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The measure would take place in 2023 and put the future of the festival in that space at jeopardy.
Osheaga 2021 had been scheduled to run from July 30 to August 1.
