Exclaim! New Faves alumnae Mayfly have announced HIDEAWAY Vol. II — the follow-up to January's HIDEAWAY Vol. I EP, previewed by new single "Sad That Ur a Fantasy."
The second part of the collection arrives on September 22 via Duprince. Featuring previously released single "FU," the new self-produced six-track EP will see singer-songwriters Charlie and Emma resolve all the pent-up emotions aired on Vol. I — and as they let go of their pain, they aren't afraid to make a statement.
With R&B inflections and tinges of chillhop inspiration, "Sad That Ur a Fantasy" is billed as being "more stripped down and raw" than the rest of the HIDEAWAY project, which has thus far leaned into more into dark electropop and iridescent shimmers of IDM. The new single sees the duo's signature dreamy layers of harmonies serpentine their way around a decidedly more sensual groove as they "think some nice things of you" while they lie daydreaming.
Check out the track below, where you'll also find the EP tracklist.
