When Monstrosity's second album, Millennium, came out it was a refreshing death metal album at a time when death metal was really starting to get generic. Here we are, a solid decade later and death metal is pretty much entirely out of ideas and resting with one foot in the grave. Yet Florida's Monstrosity are simply rewriting the same old death riffs and belching out the tired cookie monster vocals on this flat, deja-vu-inspiring release. I really can't stress how damn good this band is; they are one of the most solid, tight and talented gangs of players in this genre. That's what makes this even more painful, because these guys are too great to be stagnating. Strange how such a good album can be so painful, but that's what sticking to the guidelines gets ya.
