Modest Mouse Collaborate with Nirvana's Krist Novoselic on New Album

We've been hearing rumblings about a new Modest Mouse album for years now, as rapper Big Boi revealed that he had contributed to the recordings way back in the spring of 2011. Now, it looks as if the Isaac Brock-fronted outfit have nabbed another high-profile guest: Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.

In an interview with Spotify Landmark [via Interstate-8/Pitchfork], Novoselic revealed that he plays on one new Modern Mouse tune.

"I did a song with Modest Mouse earlier this year for their new record," he said. "It's pretty edgy. I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out a... this bass riff."

Interstate-8 points out that Novoselic told the Twin Cities Daily Planet last summer, "I've been hanging out with Modest Mouse. We're just kind of playing; I don't know what's going on with it."

The last we heard from Modest Mouse, the band had cancelled their summer tour in order to continue work on their album. They previously promised that it would be out in 2014. When the album arrives, it will be the official follow-up to 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
