Modest Mouse

"The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box"

Modest Mouse fans have had to been extremely patient when waiting for the band's new album, and now we can get another taste of Strangers to Ourselves in the form of the track "The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box."

This song taps into the upbeat side of the band's sound, as a danceable groove sets the foundation for frenzied guitar riffs which are joined by some ornate orchestral elements. Isaac Brock downplays his vocal quirks — relatively speaking — and offers up a melodic performance along the lines of prior albums Good News for People Who Love Bad News and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. All this being said, the six-minute sprawl means that this isn't your average pop-rock ditty, and there's a noisy breakdown in the second half.
