Misery Index

Traitors

BY Bill WhishPublished Oct 22, 2008

The guys in Misery Index appear to be pissed about something. The politically charged lyrics and brutal death metal on display on their third full-length, Traitors, are enough to incite aggression in even the most seasoned of metal heads. This hostility comes off sounding pretty damn good, too. Taking a sound that’s quite similar to Relapse label-mates Dying Fetus, Misery Index take some of the best guttural elements of grind and lay a more harmonious and comprehensible sound over top. The result is a nice change from the all-too-fake politically motivated metalcore bands out there that dilute their aggression with shitty clean vocals and repetitive breakdowns. Misery Index replace these points with a consistent delivery of chug-age and full-on aggression from front to back.
