Miracle Fortress

In case you didn't get the memo that Montreal's Miracle Fortress had spent the last couple of years completely overhauling their sound, frontman Graham Van Pelt hand delivered it on stage at Lee's Palace. Ignoring his Polaris-nominated debut Five Roses entirely, he chose to introduce his new stripped-down, two-man band with a set featuring only selections from the upcoming album, Was I the Wave? With little interaction, Van Pelt and drummer just let the groove of his cerebral, bass-heavy "bedroom club" music do all the talking as a laser light show sprayed the ceiling and jaws dropped to the floor.
