Twenty-year-old Milton, ON-based singer-songwriter Billianne has shared her soaring debut single "No Wonder."
After cutting her teeth on TikTok and Instagram, earning a following for her covers of Tina Turner's "The Best" and Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and more — in addition to selling out her first headlining show in Port Dover and performing alongside Jann Arden on Toronto's Massey Hall stage — the young artist has taken on her first original recording of a string of new material to come.
Billianne said of the track in a statement:
Coming to Toronto for my first in-person writing session felt like a big step for me and it scared my parents! It was also my first time meeting Nick Ferraro and Duncan Hood, but we quickly connected and talked about childhood and that giant leap everyone takes in their 20s. Using metaphors inspired by my family's road trip to Nova Scotia in 2009, we created a song about a parent's love and how, with an upbringing like I've had, it's no wonder I'm ready to go. This song is laced with a lot of firsts for me — which makes the lyrics ring true even more.
