Following his arrest last month for allegedly robbing a Massachusetts-area Walgreens just hours before he was to play a show, prog punkers Coheed and Cambria have announced that bassist Michael Todd has officially left the band.
The group issued a statement on their Tumblr account explaining that the whole situation, which reportedly had Todd threatening a store employee with a bomb in an attempt to secure some Oxycotin, has been difficult for them, their friends and family. As a result, they have decided the best solution was to part ways.
"After a lot of thought, introspection and discussion, Coheed and Cambria will be continuing our journey without bassist Michael Todd," the group wrote in a joint statement. "We have spoken to him and this is a mutual decision between both parties. Michael was a great contributor; our hearts go out to his family and to all those who appreciate his talents. We wish him nothing but the very best."
The outfit then go on to thank musician Wes Styles for filling in for their recent shows, but it's unclear whether he's in the band full time.
In the meantime, Coheed and Cambria also announced in the message that they are working on songs for a new album, as well as a few unspecified compilation appearances.
"A new chapter awaits," they concluded.
