MGMT, Counterparts and Machinedrum Lead This Week's Can't Miss Concerts

December has arrived, so be sure to squeeze in as many shows as you can before heading home for the holidays. As always, we've listed some of the best shows headed your way for the week of December 5-11 in the latest edition of our Can't Miss Concerts series. Counterparts

Counterparts' guitarist Alex Re recently announced that he'll be playing his last show with the band in their hometown of Hamilton on December 6. Replacement guitarist Adrian Lee will be filling in for Re for their remaining tour dates in 2013.

High On Fire

Bay Area stoner-metal crew High On Fire are the midst of a North American tour with like-minded Norwegian punks Kvelertak. The band hit Calgary and Vancouver before heading back to the States to wrap up the tour.

Lindi Ortega

Honky-tonk-inspired songstress Lindi Ortega wraps up her extensive 2013 touring schedule this month with shows in Guelph and Kingston. Ortega won't be taking much of a break, however, as she heads to Europe early next year.

Machinedrum

Electronic producer Machinedrum recently relocated to Berlin and signed to the legendary Ninja Tune record label for latest LP Vapor City. This week, Machinedrum has returned to our side of the pond for a number of North American shows, including one at Vancouver's Fortune Sound Club.

MGMT

Psychedelic rock weirdos MGMT have moved away from the straightforward synth-pop of their first record on their most recent self-titled third LP. Catch Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser as they head north of border for a pair of dates in Toronto and Montreal.

12/7 Toronto, ON - Sound Academy
12/9 Montreal, QC - Metropolis

No Joy

Finally, following a stint in Europe, shoegaze duo No Joy hit the Garrison in Toronto before finishing off their tour with a hometown gig at Montreal's il Motore. They will be accompanied in Montreal by Swedish punks Holograms.
