Canadian indie rock fans should recognize a few familiar faces in Girlfriend Material — a new project featuring Tokyo Police Club's Graham Wright and Josh Hook and Hollerado's Jake Boyd, as well as Joseph Garand.
The Toronto four-piece have just released their self-titled debut EP, and it's packed with five sweet melodic garage rock jams.
"Girlfriend Material came into being halfway by accident — I needed some loud rock songs for a movie I made, and I figured I could probably write some that were good enough," Wright tells Exclaim! "I did not expect them to be my favourite songs I'd ever written. These songs made me fall more in love with playing music than ever before, and I'm over the moon to finally get them out into the world."
