Back in 2014, Explosions in the Sky guitarist Mark T. Smith teamed up with Eluvium mastermind Matthew Cooper under the moniker Inventions to release the project's debut self-titled LP. They've since delivered a follow-up full-length with this year's Maze of Woods, and are already gearing up to issue some fresh material in the form of a new EP.
Titled Blanket Waves, the new effort boasts two 12-minute-long pieces; the title track will be accompanied by "Hearing Loss." It will arrive on October 16 through Temporary Residence.
While an entire track has yet to be shared, the duo have teased the new material with a slightly unsettling album trailer. Featuring what is presumably a snippet from "Blanket Waves," the darkly ambient music is matched with grainy distorted found footage.
