East Coast indie rock act Diamondtown feature an array of Maritime music vets, bringing together KC Spidle (Dog Day), Evan Cardwell (Husband & Knife), Chris Thompson (Eric's Trip) and Kate O'Neill (Moonsocket).
Forged from the ashes of previous projects and collaborations, the four-piece bring together upbeat harmonies and jangly guitars with the "gothic leanings" of '80s bands like the Smiths and the Cure.
Diamondtown released their debut digital album Life Goes On last year, and ahead of their follow-up offering, the band have unveiled a new track called "December."
"Not one of my most cryptic tunes but I got the idea for the song after a cold winter night when my wife and I were trying to navigate slippery streets to get home after a staff party — on foot," Spidle tells Exclaim! "On a collective level, the song kind of speaks to how winter can be a long, dark road in Canada and we just have to embrace it and look out for out one another."
No one knows how much winter the coming months might still hold for Canadians, but the hazy jangle-pop tune is a nice way to bid the cold and snow goodbye as Canadians look forward to the warmer months.
