If you thought Dog Day's reunion and recent album would slow down frontman Seth A. Smith's film career, think again. The musician/director has a new film, and it just secured Canadian distribution.

The new film is called Tin Can and it just premiered at Montreal's Fantasia International Film Festival. It has been acquired by levelFILM for a Canadian wide release. It will come to theatres in early 2022.

The dark sci-fi thriller stars Anna Hopkins, Simon Mutabazi and Michael Ironside. According to a press release, it "takes the single-location prison movie format to a visceral new dimension. At a glance, it could be compared to other man-in-a-coffin type films—stories fuelled by primal, claustrophobic fear. But in Tin Can, what lies outside confinement is much more unsettling."

Tin Can is Smith's third feature-length film. It follows 2017's The Crescent and 2012's Lowlife.
