The roster over at Anti- includes a diverse range of acts like Tom Waits, the Coup, Man Man and Bettye LaVette, and you can now add one more outfit to the eclectic mix: Brixton, England's the Melodic.
A press release confirms that the quartet recently inked with the imprint and will release their debut EP On My Way on June 23. Details behind the effort are slim, but the label explains that the folk-pop band use instruments like the charango, melodica and kora to bring together a vast array of influences. Apparently the act's songs are shaped by a love for Belle and Sebastian and the Magnetic Fields as much as they are the sounds of Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa.
"Brixton is a real melting pot of different people so it doesn't feel inappropriate for us to introduce sounds from around the world into our music, there was South American and African music around us all the time, as well as reggae and dub music," singer Huw Williams said in a statement.
A tracklisting has yet to pop up for the EP, but you can stream the acoustic shuffle of it's title track down below.
