Brixton, England's eclectic folk-rock quartet the Melodic first grabbed Canadians' attentions last summer when they played a set at Toronto's NXNE on behalf of their debut EP, On My Way. But with their first-ever full-length, Effra Parade, already under their belts, the band returned to North America this past January, this time to a play a string of dates with critically-acclaimed South African folk troubadour Johnny Flynn. Exclaim! was lucky enough to catch up with both acts last month at Lee's Palace to hear an upbeat rendition of Effra Parade standout "Come Outside" in an exclusive live session for Exclaim! TV.
In this old-timey clip, watch as the all-acoustic outfit sways back and forth to their rustic grooves, which are all the more enhanced by Flynn's screeching fiddle and band member Lydia Samuels (for lack of a better word) melodic melodica playing.
Check out the video now in the player below, and catch the band live as they tour around Europe and the United States into the spring.
