Maureen Herman Leaves Babes in Toyland Reunion

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 24, 2015

The ongoing Babes in Toyland reunion tour has hit a snag, with bassist Maureen Herman having announced over the weekend that she's no longer performing with the alt-rock act.

Yesterday (August 23), Herman used her personal Facebook account to deliver a message to fans, explaining that "due to personal differences, Kat [Bjelland] and Lori [Barbero] have made the decision to tour with someone else." This message was later shared through Babes in Toyland's official Facebook page.

While Herman won't be joining the group for their upcoming leg of dates, she expressed gratitude that the classic period lineup of Babes in Toyland got to perform in front of their children earlier in the year at Los Angeles' Roxy venue. That show, which took place in February, marked the first time Herman, Bjelland and Barbero had played onstage together in 18 years.

Herman's initial run with Babes in Toyland took place between 1992 and 1996. Together, the trio delivered 1992's Fonatelle and 1995's Nemesisters. The band had announced last summer that they planned to make a new album, but a release has not yet been announced.

You'll find Herman's statement and Babes in Toyland's upcoming tour schedule, which hits Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, down below.

First, I'd like to thank everyone for their incredibly kind thoughts and support. I may write like a motherfucker, but I don't know if I could ever find the right words to express how much Babes in Toyland's fans mean to me. It's true that I am no longer the bassist of Babes in Toyland.

Due to personal differences, Kat and Lori have made the decision to tour with someone else. I wish them nothing but the best and hope the tour is a huge success. When Kat and I first discussed playing again, one of the things we were most excited about was the opportunity to play in front of our kids. I can't help but be grateful that our too brief reunion gave me the chance to play in front of my daughter, Anna at our show at the Roxy.

Again, thank you all for being incredible fans and friends, and let's have a kickass rest of the year, shall we? I look forward to interacting with you all on my current and future creative projects.
