Mary Lou Lord's career didn't take off like it was supposed to. After the post-bidding war and debut album smoke cleared, people seemed to forget about her. This new EP is the first new material she's recorded since her album and it sounds very good indeed. The opening "Bang Bang" is a cute little song with a rockabilly feel, while the cover of Lucinda Williams' "Hard Road" takes her nicely into country territory. Finally, there's the mandatory Bevis Frond song, "Aim Low," and it sounds as good as it ever did. But there's no original material from Ms. Lord and that's a bit of a disappointment, because she is more than capable of coming up with some gems of her own - her debut, Jingle Jangle Morning, was evidence enough of that.
