Mark Kozelek is no stranger to covers, having spent a good portion of his career delivering baritone-heavy takes on everything from AC/DC to Wings to Modest Mouse, either with Red House Painters, as Sun Kil Moon or under his given name. He's once again collected a number of his favourite songs for a solo set given the on-the-nose title of Mark Kozelek Sings Favorites, which is streaming in full right now.
Earlier, we'd been privy to Kozelek's reinterpretation of David Bowie's Young American album cut "Win" and '60s pop song "Something Stupid," the latter being was a duet with actor Minnie Driver. Now, you can hear Kozelek tickling the ivories for laid-back, golden-throated attempts at Breakfast at Tiffany ballad "Moon River," 10cc's "I'm Not in Love," and Steven Sondheim's downer classic, "Send in the Clowns." Isn't it rich?
The album goes up for sale May 27 through Kozelek's own Caldo Verde Records, but you can stream it all in full over here.
