Hailing from Whitby, Ontario, the Mark Inside have spent the past four years refining their blend of rock'n'roll, with a touch of blues to create something that sounds remarkably fresh. They've managed to impress enough people that their debut CD has just been re-released by Maple Music, helping bring them to an even wider audience and that could turn out to be the assistance they need. Like the Constantines, it feels like the Mark Inside haven't quite succeeded in transferring the energy and dynamics of their live show onto a CD. While there are parts of Static/Crush that are genuinely exciting to listen to, they haven't quite done enough to earn the label of "the Canadian Strokes" that has been bandied around by some folks. Their live show, on the other hand, is another matter altogether.
