Indie R&B-pop artist Mariannie Ompoc has a gospel-trained voice that she puts to good use on her Rorschach EP. The St. Catharines, ON native delivers four tracks that offer up a broadly focused pop and soul-minded sound.

The production is functional, the lyrical sentiment is earnest and the sweeping nature of the songs reveal an emerging artist that has plenty of potential. An orchestral power ballad like "You'll Save Me" reaches for gravitas, the hypnotic synths on "Cold As Ice" offer a deep groove and the cool acoustics of "Like I Wanna" are tempered by unrestrained vocals, while the electro-pop flavour of "Feel Like Myself" aims for mainstream consideration.

The EP title refers to the psychological test that reveals personal interpretation and emotional functioning; this sonically imperfect project is designed to introduce the burgeoning R&B-pop artist, unvarnished and real, and does a respectable job of showing the test results, too.
