Malady

Malady

BY Sam SutherlandPublished Nov 1, 2004

Featuring ex-members of Pg. 99 and City of Caterpillar, the music of Malady is what you might expect in some ways, and in other ways, it is totally different. While just as chaotic and noisy as anything to have been created by the members in the past, Malady make the surprising decision to frequently embrace pop structure within their songs, allowing their wild musical tendencies a more rigid form in which to trash about. Tracks such as "Well Again” break down into gorgeously soft instrumentation before returning to their crushing final choruses, while the brutal "Heroine” is non-stop screaming from start to finish. A strong offering from five strong musicians with equally impressive backgrounds, Malady has proven with their debut full-length that they are a unique and compelling beast altogether.
