Majical Cloudz may have called it quits, bidding the band farewell with a final show last week in Montreal, but frontman Devon Welsh is showing no signs of slowing down his musical output.
At the time of the breakup announcement, Welsh explained that he would be releasing music under his own name, while bandmate Matthew Otto was working on a project called the Dhalia. The first post-Majical Cloudz offering has arrived, however, courtesy of Belave.
The outfit is composed of Welsh and Matthew E. Duffy, and they've released a new five-song release titled Indigo, Streams, Lash. The vocals and lyrics were contributed by Duffy, with remaining musical credit going to Welsh (except for saxophone from Austin Milne).
A statement from Welsh explains that the record was made over the course of the last year and a half between Detroit and Montreal before finishing touches were added remotely by Milne in London.
"I think with this project we are always trying to create our own world and make something that we have never heard before," Welsh writes. "It's definitely a science experiment, and I think we are hoping for new discoveries."
