Madrid de los Austrias combine down-tempo beats, trip-hop and small doses of hip-hop and house in this mix of funky beats. The duo splits the disc into two separate mixes, with the first definitely high on the blunted, chronic tracks, with Alex Gopher's mix of Nightmares on Wax's "Finer" and Tim "Love" Lee's "Super Rappin' No. 5" exemplifying the selection. The second mix is a bit faster and contains a few house tracks as well, like Salt City Orchestra's sexy mix of the Sneaker Pimps' "Post Modern Sleaze," but it does gets a little lost in some boring Afro-beat tracks. Overall, though, it is a good representation of the down-tempo beats that have been coming out of Europe for the past few years.
