Lou Canon (aka Leanne Greyerbiehl) introduces herself with this debut album as soft, sweet and friendly. The record from the teacher-by-day is simple and pleasant, with Canon cooing melodically, with cutesy songs such as "My Girls," "More Than You" and even a cover of the Cure's "Close to Me" to the humbler "Heart as a Ghost." Some edge comes through via electric guitars on tunes like "Heart Of." Canon recorded the album at Skyscraper National Park with Hayden, Howie Beck and other musicians, such as Bahamas' Afie Jurvanen. It's a nice collaborative effort, with Canon shining brightly ahead, and the appeal is there. But if you can't take a lot of cutesy girl vocals and light piano tunes in long doses, then split this one up a bit.
