Listen to the Franklin Electric's New Album 'This Time I See It'

It's the fourth full-length effort from the Montreal-based collective

Montreal indie savants the Franklin Electric return today with their cathartic fourth LP This Time I See It via Nettwerk.

Led by the singles "Greatest Love of All," "Why You Gotta Be" and "Ten Steps Back," the band wax philosophic on the nuances of relationships — with others and with oneself — to weave a tapestry of understanding and forgiveness.

The Franklin Electric recorded the bulk of This Time I See It at Vancouver's Afterlife Studios with producer John Rahm. Then, producer/mixer Miro Mackie added the finishing touches from Los Angeles.

The result is rampant with cinematic undertones, as the group's signature alt-folk arrangements spotlight tender guitar plucking, layers of vocal harmonies contributed by members Ken Pressé and Adam Passalacqua and a narrative arc traversing an openhearted awakening.

In a statement, frontman Jon Matte said of the record:

I hope each listener gets a different perspective from this music. The beauty of art is it's open to interpretation. I know what these songs have done for me; I'm grateful to share them because I know where they came from inside and the lessons they brought me. Many of them are moments that passed by — I created an album of those moments. There's a sense of freedom, forgiveness, healing and letting inspiration through in its purest form, and accepting the changes that are unfolding without trying to control them — but it's up to you.

This Time I See It follows last year's EP Never Look Back.
