Listen to Chiiild's Debut LP 'Hope for Sale'

"Aiming to cover the whole human experience, I dive into my outlook on life, love and social justice"

The long-awaited debut album from our Montreal-born Exclaim! cover star Chiiild (née Yonatan Ayal) Hope for Sale is out today, and you can hear it now.

Chiiild is fresh-off his first U.S. late-night TV performance of a medley of "Pirouette" and "Sleepwalking" on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month. This slew of singles — which also includes "Eventually"  and "Gone" — has allowed us to get acquainted with the multifaceted sonic world of Hope for Sale. Encapsulating a diverse range of genres, the consistency comes from Chiiild himself as the architect.

After having got his start wracking up production and co-writing credits as xSDTRK for the likes of UsherJennifer Lopez and Chloe X Halle, Chiiild is no stranger to collaboration. On the album, he joins forces with Mahalia and Jensen McRae — two young Black women and emerging singer-songwriters (from the U.K. and U.S., respectively) making waves in their own right.

Likewise, Hope for Now is conversational in tone, inviting the listener into a dialogue. It's all relational; open-ended and transcending definition. The artist describes the album as a representation of his journey throughout the last year.

"Aiming to cover the whole human experience," he explained, "I dive into my outlook on life, love and social justice: This is Hope for Sale."

Hope for Sale is out now via Avant Garden, available to stream on your platform of choice below. The record follows his 2020 EP Synthetic Soul.
