Japanese experimental rock legends Acid Mothers Temple and Montreal psych upstarts Yoo Doo Right have joined forces for a new 7-inch record. Though it's due tomorrow, June 5, via Montreal's Mothland Records, both songs are available to listen to now, exclusively on Exclaim!
The two bands toured together in 2018, performing 42 shows together, and the split single commemorates the bond the two groups developed on the road. Both tracks shift and morph over their lengthy runtimes — while Acid Mothers Temple's "Silver Points and Lines" takes a looser, jam-like approach, Yoo Doo Right's "Speed Guru" skulks and lurches with a doom-y style of krautrock that converges into a menacing, Godspeed You! Black Emperor-esque finale.
"Speed Guru" is an outtake from Yoo Doo Right's forthcoming debut album, Don't Think You Can Escape Your Purpose, due later this year via Mothland.
