An autopsy report has revealed that Lisa Marie Presley, singer-songwriter and only child of Elvis Presley, died of a small bowel obstruction caused by a complication from bariatric surgery, which is a weight loss procedure.
The report says the issue that led to her death is a common long-term complication of this type of surgery. A toxicology report found therapeutic levels of oxycodone in her blood, as well as another opioid, buprenorphine (which is used to treat opioid use disorder). Opioids can also cause bowel obstruction.
Presley died at the age of 54 on January 12 after being found unresponsive and rushed to a Los Angeles hospital. She had been complaining of stomach pain earlier that day.
She was laid to rest at her father's mansion, Graceland.
Being her father's only heir, a legal battle over her will and estate involving her mother, Priscilla Presley, and one of her three daughters, Riley Keough, ensued after her death, but that was finally settled in May. The details of the settlement have been kept private.
