Late last year, we found out that Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo would be treating us to a new solo album in 2012. Called Between the Times & the Tides, the album still isn't due out for a while yet, but now we've got our first taste of the record via the new teaser track "Off the Wall."
Over here, you can stream and/or download "Off the Wall," which finds Ranaldo going the more conventional rock route rather than heading off into some great experimental unknown. Not that that's a bad thing.
As previously reported, Between the Times & the Tides features guest appearances from Wilco's Nels Cline, Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley, prior Sonic Youth collaborators Bob Bert and Jim O'Rourke, plus jazz boundary-pushers Alan Licht and John Medesk, as well as bassist Irwin Menkin.
Between the Times & the Tides is out March 20 via Matador.
