After a few years of silence, Mexican garage-punk unit Le Butcherettes are returning with a new album. The record is called bi/MENTAL, and it will arrive on February 1 via Rise Records.

The new album follows the group's 2015 effort A Raw Youth, as well as this year's "spider/WAVES" single and struggle/STRUGGLE flexi-disc. Like those recent 2018 releases, the new record hears the band teaming up with Talking Heads/Modern Lovers hero Jerry Harrison to help with production.

"Essentially, this record was inspired by the death of a living mother but none of that matters anymore," Le Butcherettes singer Teri Gender Bender explained in a statement. "A disconnection in itself is so ravage so confusing it leaves one feeling incomplete… is there hope? Is there light? Maybe it all isn't so black and white. in the end there is a Duality in All. Life is a cycle, the moon, the sun, the ocean waves transcending into sand. It will be okay."

Kicking off the album is the previously shared "spider/WAVES," which features punk icon Jello Biafra. Alice Bag also guests on the new song "mothers/HOLDS," while Mon Laferte appears on la/SANDÍA.

To go along with today's new album announcement, Le Butcherettes have shared a new music video for "father/ELOHIM," which was directed by Gus Black. You can check that out below, where you'll also find "spider/WAVES."

Le Butcherettes also have announced a 2019 North American tour, which includes a Toronto stop on February 22. You'll find all the dates below as well.
