Laurel Halo Embarks on "Fresh Synth Pursuits" for New Hour Logic EP

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 25, 2011

While Laurel Halo's 2010 release King Felix was a blissfully eerie journey through retro synth pop landscapes, the musician is moving forward with a new sound for her next EP. Titled Hour Logic, the release is poised to pump up Halo's previous pop-tinged tendencies with elements of outsider electro.

A press release explains that the upcoming twelve-inch EP, which will be released June 21 by Hippos in Tanks, "marks a stylistic evolution in Halo," taking influence from the worlds of IDM, ambient and techno. The pop structures that marked King Felix have now been transformed into "mutant grooves" centred on vocal layering and "hyperreal ambience."

The six-song set, which is being pressed in a limited run of 1,000 copies, is said to be spiked with "LFO tides, self-mutilated vocal samples and fresh synth pursuits." Check out the tracklisting below and the cover above.

Halo is also embarking on a quick European tour in May. See the dates below.
