For the month of February, Toronto's very own kalimba virtuoso Laura Barrett is braving the icy cold of the northern territories, and she's here to tell us all about it in her Exclaim! tour blog. While living in Dawson City, Yukon, Barrett will be the DCMF songwriter-in-residence, living in -40 Celsius temperatures and trying to get as much done in only seven hours of daylight.
So far this city girl has got up to a lot in Dawson City, including doing three gigs in four days, playing a mini-concert for a kindergarten class and even catching a bonspiel. Plus, she's hung out with real, live sled dogs.
