Land of Talk Reschedule Tour

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Oct 24, 2008

It appears Land of Talk are finally healed. Following a series of recent show cancellations due to vocalist Liz Powell’s throat problems, the Montreal trio have firmed up their North American tour plans and added a handful of new dates. What’s more, many of those dates find them opening up for Toronto rock darlings Broken Social Scene.

Land of Talk’s live activity comes in the wake of their newly released full-length, Some Are Lakes, which they released independently with some help by Secret City and Saddle Creek earlier this month. Exclaim! recently talked to Powellabout the record, as well as its producer Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. Here’s some of what she had to say about Vernon:

"He approaches music from a similar DIY place. He loves things to be flawed and that’s what makes them beautiful. And playing all of those old songs in tiny clubs, there was just so much noise; I felt like I was going deaf, so the quieter songs are a reaction to that.”
