Vancouver singer-songwriter Kylie V has a new single and a new record deal. "Lucky Streak" is out now through the artist's new label home, Royal Mountain Records.
The song is a characteristically lush, tender tune that initially seems like a slow-burning ballad before suddenly ramping up into a mid-tempo rock arrangement full of distorted, spaciously reverb-soaked guitar leads, and it increases in momentum when Kylie's voice suddenly jumps up an octave.
Kylie said in a statement, "I wrote 'Lucky Streak' during the excruciatingly complex process of getting over someone, while everything else in my life seemed to be speeding up and getting better at a surreal pace. When I started this song in my notes, I was on one hand feeling lost and empty, and on the other hand, it felt like all my dreams were beginning to come true — later in the month I wrote this song I played my biggest venue to date, and then flew across the country for another show."
It was produced with Josh Eastman. The video — which shows Kyle walking, running and scooting in slo-mo through some areas in and around Vancouver ahead of throwing a garage rock party in the final scene — was directed by Luke Beach Bown.
