On Out of Body, UK duo the KVB usher in a style of nouveau-shoegaze that is simultaneously layered, intricate and minimalist. Their sound is linear, weaving in and out with auditory grace and fluidity. The duo blend wall-of-sound guitar work with bass synths, drum machine beats and the soft vocals of member Nicholas Wood.

Out of Body is composed of six songs recorded over one week at Anton Newcombe's (Brian Jonestown Massacre) studio in Berlin. A haunting, eastern-influenced organ riff in "All Around You" serves as an homage to the signature sound of BJM, and Stereolab's Joe Dilworth contributes live drums on a number of tracks.

This release continues to explore the band's fascination with phenomenology, bodily immersion and consciousness. Strings and synths add enriching layers to the songs, while heavy delay on Wood's vocals give them an ethereal feel, especially on "All Around You" and "Heavy Eyes." Paired with a steady, driving drum beat, the KVB throw a direct nod to Joy Division and My Bloody Valentine. With its multi-instrumental sound and deep, radiating ambience, Out of Body is an engulfing sound experience.
