Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill: "I Hate Fucking Hipsters"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 19, 2010

As one of the most popular arena rock bands in the world, Kings of Leon aren't too popular amongst hipsters. That probably isn't weighing on frontman Caleb Followill's mind too much, however, since he hates hipsters right back.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the singer/guitarist said, “I hate fucking hipsters. Everyone talks about indie this and indie that, but would you really want to be one of those indie bands that makes two albums and disappears? That’s just sad. When we signed on with our manager, we all said we wanted to have a box-set career. We’ll gladly be the next generation of bands that aren’t going anywhere.”

It's unclear whether Followill is lashing out against hipsters or indie bands, or if he thinks they're the same thing. In any case, one thing is certain — Kings of Leon are well on their way to having what he calls a "box-set career." While critical response to the band has always been mixed, the band have managed to build up a steady following over the past decade, exploding into superstardom with the 2008 smash Only by the Night.

The group's latest offering, Come Around Sundown, was released today (October 19) to typically hit or miss reviews.
