King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are now a six-piece, announcing that drummer/manager Eric Moore has left the group.
"Over the last decade as both member and manager, from airport to soundcheck and from tourbus to stage he was there each step of the way," the band wrote in sharing the news. "Eric made an immeasurable contribution to the band and we're sad to see him go!"
Moore's former bandmates wrote that he is leaving the fold "to focus solely on Flightless Records," and the drummer elaborated on his decision in a statement of his own shared through the label's Instagram account.
"I will keep working with Gizz putting out records but I will no longer be an active member or manager of the group," Moore wrote. "To anyone that caught a show and dived into our world over the last 10 years I just want to say thank you for the support. Being able to travel the world and perform in front of you is not something I take for granted. I hope that the shows, tours and Gizzfests made an impression and provided an outlet for joy and lasting memories."
He added, "Life goes on however, and I'm excited to keep growing the label and continuing to champion new artists and business endeavours until the lights go out. And when the lights go out..well.. someone give me the number for Coles cause I can pick and pack an order like a mf."

King Gizzard released the live album Chunky Shrapnel earlier this year and followed that with recent singles "Honey" and "Some of Us." Their most recent studio effort remains 2019's Infest the Rat's Nest.
