Comically prolific Australian psych reptiles King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard had promised that three new albums would arrive in October. Having previously obscured the titles and artwork of the LPs, they have now shared the full details of the albums.
Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava will arrive on October 7. It's said to be jammy, collaborative and built around the seven Greek modes (the musical scales used in Ancient Greece). Each band member "adopted a totem" for the project. The shortest song is just under seven minutes in length, with several tracks stretching significantly longer, and the songs spread across two vinyl LPs. The band have shared the jazzy psych-soul epic "Ice V" from the album.
Laminated Denim will follow on October 11. It's a jammy album consisting of two 15-minute tracks and is said to be the spiritual successor to this year's Made in Timeland (which also consisted of two 15-minute epics).
Lastly, Changes will drop on October 28. Its seven tracks range from under three minutes in length to over 13 minutes, and it was made over the course of five years. It's said to be "considered" rather than jammed out, with all the songs in the keys of D or F#.
