A couple months back, the Killers frontman Brandon Flowers announced that he was temporarily setting his day job aside to record a solo album. That album, Flamingo, now has both a release date and a first single.
As New York Magazine points out, Flamingo is now due September 14, and reportedly features a guest spot by Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley).
According to Flowers, the songs on Flamingo were supposed to become the next Killers album, but it "became something else when I realized I wasn't ready to take a very long break and a couple of the guys were."
He added, "It wasn't born out of a need to do something different or to get attention or anything else."
To whet fans' appetites, Flowers has made the first single, "Crossfire," available now. Predictably, it's more than a little glammy, and features hints of disco influence, as well. You can hear "Crossfire" below.
