Bloc Party's indefinite hiatus has left lead singer Kele Okereke in the driver's seat with a new solo set Trick. Exploring feelings of hopelessness and uncertainty, Okereke has now given up a stream of its "Doubt."
The song steers away from the rock-centric Bloc Party template, instead flirting with the late-night pulse of house. As a four-on-the-floor bustles beneath seasick synth tones, Okereke weighs in on the track with the notion of being lost in his cloudy thoughts, getting down on his knees praying the bad times will pass. As the song explodes in the chorus, he seeks out someone's love to help him regain his confidence, to "get back home," as it were.
Trick will be available on October 14 in North America via Lilac Records (through Kobalt Label Services).
