Kaytranada has shared a dynamic, shuffling remix of Sam Gellaitry's 2021 song "Assumptions," originally released on Gellaitry's IV EP. Kaytranada puts his signature twist on the track, crafting a low-key introductory groove before the song blossoms with dense beats and Gellaitry's neon synths.
The "Assumptions" remix is Kaytranada's first individual release of 2023 — he remixed Rochelle Jordan's "All Along" in September of last year, appeared on PinkPantheress's "Do you miss me?" in November and contributed to Kelela's Raven, which arrived last month.
"Assumptions" has been previously remixed by Jengi and BURNS. In a statement about Kaytranada's remix, Gellaitry said:
I'll never forget the first time I heard Kaytranada's music 11 years ago, a true innovator and inspiration to my music ever since that point. I'm delighted to be able to release this remix and I can't wait to play this one out! Thank you Kay.
