Halifax rapper Kayo recently switched his homebase to Toronto, and to mark his move to the city Drake dubbed "The 6," he's been releasing a new track on the 6th of every month as part of his 6ix Campaign. Well, the sixth instalment has now arrived in the form of new cut "Bakara" and Exclaim.ca has got the video premiere.
The track was produced by Yogidaproducer (a.k.a. Johann Deterville), and was written and recorded in Yogi's hometown of Anse La Raye, St. Lucia, with his brother Infinate (Nathan Deterville). That's also where the clip was shot, with the song taking its name from the block where the footage was filmed.
The YouTube post from Kayo reads:
My producer & partner in crime, Yogidaproducer, really curated this whole project, from the production, to the direction of the lyrics, to the directing & editing of the video. His brother is also featured on the joint. So this 1 for you fam!
This is the last of the campaign, but the beginning of what we have in store next.
The video showcases the vibrancy of the neighbourhood, with Kayo indulging in some liquor and weed with the locals. Shots of the seaside add some contrast to the Bakara block, and you can see it for yourself in the player below.
In addition to the "Bakara" video, Kayo has shared the complete 6ix Campaign collection, which you can scroll past the video to stream.
