Love him or hate him, there's no denying that things are not exactly going great for Kanye West these days. Earlier this month, the rapper, producer and mogul officially started divorce proceedings with his wife Kim Kardashian. And now, the financials of his failed presidential bid have been made public.
According to People, Kanye sunk $12.5 million USD of his own money into his presidential campaign. He raised an additional $2 million from contributors and concluded the campaign with $1.3 million left.
That means the campaign cost him $13.2 million to achieve around 66,000 votes, or about $200 per vote.
More than $7.5 million of the money went to fees related to "ballot access," which is a common problem for third-party candidates, particularly those who enter the fray late like Kanye did.
Kanye only managed to get his name on 12 official state ballots in the 2020 election. He conceded the election on November 4.
